Bristol keeps on growing!27 November 2014
On Friday, Fran and Georgina attended a talk at the Engine Shed where Alistair Reid, who is the Interim Service Director for Economy for Bristol City Council spoke about the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone. The zone is one of the UK's largest urban regeneration projects that aims to create 17,000 jobs over 25 years whilst becoming a hub for creative, high technology, specialist engineering and low carbon companies.
Alistair provided interesting insight into the challenges the zone will face as well as the fact the zone will lend itself to fantastic new opportunities for businesses, resident and visitors alike. On a personal level the one we're initially most excited about is the long overdue and much needed arena that a city like Bristol has been lacking. It's a 12,000 capacity venue and is due to be completed by 2017.
The talk was extremely interesting and informative, as although we had seen for ourselves the changes that were already underway in and around the Temple Meads area, we really had no idea of the scale of this project and the amount of investment the area will see.
A number of well known companies such as IBM, BT, Osborne Clarke and TRA have already moved to Bristol Temple Quarter and there is no doubt that more and more will follow suit.
Fishtank have been advocates of Bristol ever since our inception 10 years ago, so for us this is also a very exciting time. We look forward to getting the opportunity to continue working alongside our existing Bristol clients that may also look to move to the Zone, as well as the many new businesses from further afield that will also no doubt want to be part of this exciting new venture.
